Things To Do

A note on the weather: The Ausable Club is located right in the middle of the Adirondack High Peaks. Temperatures range from sunny 75 degree summer days to chilly 45 degree evenings. In the mountains, weather can change by the hour so plan accordingly.
Golf

Golf

The Ausable Club golf course is a unique 9 hole course that may be enjoyed by all skill levels. Be sure to bring your clubs and head down to the golf shop for a round!

Tennis

Tennis

The Ausable Club has seven clay tennis courts which require white attire. First come first serve! Tennis balls are available at the pro shop located behind the club house.

Lower Ausable Lake

Lower Ausable Lake

The Lower Ausable Lake is a gorgeous spot to relax, swim, and enjoy a picnic on a nice day. You can walk to the lake or take the bus, which leaves from the front circle. A bus schedule will be available upon check in. The Lake Road is 3.5 miles, and has a gradual incline. It takes a little over an hour to walk to the lake, and about 15 minutes on the bus. You can always walk to the lake and take the bus back, or vice versa. Guide boats and canoes are available for a scenic row or paddle on the lake.

Indian Head

Indian Head

Indian Head is a gorgeous one and a half mile hike from the Lower Lake. The breathtaking view you will find on top is of the Lower and Upper Ausable lakes, as well as the Great Range of the Adirondacks. The climb up takes approximately 40 to 50 minutes. Weather permitting, you can take a refreshing swim in the lake after your climb!

Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing

Take a walk on either the East or West River trails and cast a line at the many fishy pools you'll find throughout the river. Only artificial flies and lures are permitted. Fishing licenses can be purchased at front desk.

Lawn Bowling

Lawn Bowling

Enjoy a round of lawn bowling on the green in front of the club! The balls can be found in the shed near the green. See the attached link for how to play!

Outside the Ausable CLub

Meals will be provided by the Ausable Club from Friday evening through Sunday morning. Near the club there are a handful of shops and restaurants all located within a mile of each other in the town of Keene Valley. Noonmark Diner and the Ausable Inn are two local eateries. The Birch Store sells gifts and clothing while the Mountaineer is great for outdoor apparel and gear. Further afield in Keene, Dartbrook Rustic Goods has amazing home decor and gifts, and Cedar Run, ADK Cafe and FortySix have good food. And even a bit farther up the road is Lake Placid with too many choices to list!
