Things To Do

Nojiri offers plenty of beauty, nature and outdoor activities that will keep you more than occupied during your stay. Here are some ideas on how to spend your time while at the lake; reach out if you would like more information on any of these suggestions!

Spending Time at the Lake

You don't have to go far to have a good time! Here are some suggestions on things to do that are free & don't require a car to get around: Go swimming, sailing, kayaking or SUP paddle boarding Explore Biwajima, the shrine island on the lake (get there by boat & park on the island's beach) Play tennis, golf, or disc golf Relax & hang out/read/play games at the cabin **We can get you access to whatever equipment necessary - just let us know!

Naena Waterfall

A beautiful waterfall on Myoko mountain, about a 25 min drive away with a short & easy hike to the falls. There is also a nearby ice cream stand that sells the freshest blueberry ice cream you'll ever taste!

Togakushi

Togakushi is an area ~30-minute drive from the lake, known for its basket weaving & soba. Enjoy a wooded hike, grab some soba for lunch, visit Togakushi shrine, & shop the small basket specialty shops on the main road.**We highly recommend trying the soba & apple soft serve ice creams at the base of the hike! For families with children, this area also has Ninjamura, a ninja-themed park with extensive outdoor obstacle courses, roller slides & ninja-themed maze houses.

Explore Onsens in the Area

Nojiri is in a great location for onsen (natural hot spring public baths). Here are some of the nearby spots you can explore: Landmark Onsen Cafe - Tengu no Yu - Madarao no Yu - Tsubame Onsen Feel free to reach out if you have questions - we're happy to provide more information on onsen customs & etiquette!
