Dear Family & Friends, Our wedding is still on - yay! However, we have had to make a few changes to our big day to ensure everyone’s health and safety are a top priority. While we would love to celebrate with each and every one of you, we completely understand if you are not comfortable attending at this time. We have moved our reception location from The Silo to Gorby Sunflowers. If you have not already done so, please RSVP as soon as possible! If you have already RSVP’d and would like to change your response, please update on the website or let one of us know as soon as possible as well. This is important so that we can plan accordingly for both our ceremony and reception at Gorby Sunflowers. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you in a few weeks! Much love, Ethan & Emmarie
Back in 2014, Ethan was at a friend’s house, and his friend's mom mentioned that she knew this girl from Allegan and thought we would be a great couple. Thank you, Mrs. Wolfram!! Ethan added me on Facebook that night and slid right into the DMs. I had the State Finals Tennis Tournament that coming weekend, so I was not interested in any distractions. We texted for about two weeks and then decided to meet for ice cream at Fantasy Twirl. If you know me at all, you know how much I love ice cream and how often I eat it. While we were at Fantasy Twirl, I had to keep telling myself not to eat my ice cream too fast so Ethan didn't think I was a weirdo. Our first date lasted three hours. My mom texted half-way through and asked if I was still alive (haha). Two weeks later Ethan officially asked me to be his girlfriend while fishing at a pond near his parents’ house. The rest is history!
Ethan and I were just about to head to my parents for dinner. He told me that he had a present for me, and I had to sit down in the living room and close my eyes. I didn't really think anything of it since he's randomly made me things before, which I love. He went downstairs to the basement and was down there for quite a while. After what felt like forever, he finally brought something up and placed it on the coffee table in the living room with a towel over it. I moved the towel and saw a sign he forged for me that said 'home.' I loved it, said thank you, and hugged him. I went back to looking at the sign when he grabbed my arm, got down on one knee, and said all the cute things. He asked me to marry him and I was SHOCKED. This was a few weeks into quarantine... I had no makeup on, my hair was a mess, and I was not looking cute. But, I couldn't say "Yes, of course!" fast enough. Ethan kept it a secret from everyone (except my dad, of course) so we got to spend the rest of the day sharing the news. It was an emotional, exhausting, absolutely perfect day.
