Friday evening: Welcome Dinner at Vivo Beach Club (5:30pm - 9:30pm) Saturday evening: Wedding & Reception at Hacienda Siesta Alegre (shuttle departs at 3:45pm; ceremony starts at 5:00pm) Sunday afternoon: Hang out at the hotel by the pool / beach
The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all be held at the same venue - Hacienda Siesta Alegre. The venue is about 30 minutes from the San Juan airport and is nestled in the foothills of El Yunque Rainforest (photos above). We will provide a shuttle from the hotel (the Royal Sonesta San Juan) to the venue and back. The ceremony will be outdoors (you may be in the sun) and the reception will be in a shaded outdoor space.
"Tropical Cocktail" Hacienda Siesta Alegre is an outdoor venue in the rainforest - so it will be hot and sticky! We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so keep the tropical heat in mind as you choose your fit. Ladies: Any version of cocktail attire is in-bounds - dresses, jumpsuits, matching sets, etc. If I weren't wearing white to this wedding, I'd be thinking about a jewel toned linen jumpsuit or matching set. Also, the ceremony will take place on a grassy lawn, so highly recommend flats, block heels, or wedges rather than stilettos or kitten heels. Gentlemen: You're welcome to wear a suit, but it's not required. We'd recommend a linen or cotton button-up shirt, slacks, and dress shoes instead. If you'd like to really commit to the theme, a "guayabera" could be a good option. They are traditional linen or cotton shirts (which you wear untucked) that have been worn throughout the Caribbean for decades.
Unfortunately our wedding venue does not allow children outside of those who are part of the ceremony (e.g. flower girls and ring bearers), so we kindly request that this be an adults only affair. If you'd like to arrange childcare for the night of the wedding, let us know and we will be happy to help coordinate. Kids will be welcome to join our Welcome Dinner on Friday night.
