The year was 2012. The Avengers was breaking box office records; John Green had published The Fault in Our Stars; Frank Ocean had released his debut album Channel Orange. Emma was going into her senior year at Emerson, working on campus for the summer. Andrew, having just recently graduated, was spending his days toiling in the Emerson mailroom and his nights subsisting on $1 burgers. Mutual friends working on opposite sides of the country were making a movie together. For convoluted reasons, this required a hard drive being exchanged between the two friends – with Emma, on behalf of one friend, delivering the hard drive to Andrew, on behalf of the other. From that encounter came a party a month later – and then a walk through Boston Common that night – and then the rest, ever since.
