Despite growing up on opposite ends of the globe, our how-we-met story is not terribly remarkable. On September 23rd, 2015, we met for a drink near Saurabh's Nob Hill apartment. Saurabh thought he was meeting a girl from a dating app. . .little did he know that their mutual friend, Alex Chan, had already been playing Cupid behind the scenes. Just days before they matched online, Alex sent Emma a photo of Saurabh and an offer to set them up. They beat Alex to the punch, but very much credit him for his brilliant match-making. A pretty blissful, giddy-in-love 6 months of dating followed, until Emma decided to throw a wrench in their love life and move to Ireland for 3 months of cooking school. Luckily, a few thousand miles distance and terribly inconvenient time zones didn't get in the way of their budding relationship, and they were soon happily reunited in London. Two weeks of traveling through Italy followed, then plans were made to visit Saurabh's family in India. Flash forward to moving in together, multiple trips to India, Maine, Los Angeles, and NYC, exploring Scandinavia, Hawaii, and up and down the California coast, introducing their parents, and building the most loving, supportive, and incredible group of friends and family. Not to mention, bonding over their love of San Francisco, swimming and hiking, a mutual questionable sense of humor, and the many delicious meals they have cooked and eaten together. Which brings us here, to getting married outside of Saurabh's hometown in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony. We are overjoyed to have all of your love and good wishes.
On August 3rd, 2018 Saurabh took Emma out to their favorite Japanese restaurant. In the days leading up, Saurabh talked about planning a weekend trip to Carmel, California, where we had our first trip together. Emma assumed he would propose in Carmel later that weekend. Little did she know, while they were at dinner, their amazing friends, Alex (the original match-maker), Kinnary, Abhinav, and Ethan, were turning their apartment into a romantic fantasy. Emma was shocked (and initially thought they'd been robbed) when she opened the door to a trail of rose petals and tea lights, which led to their living room, completely transformed into a surreal flower-and-candle heaven, replete with 90s love ballads playing in the background. Saurabh got down on one knee and here we are now.
