The Ferry

The Maine State ferry from Rockland, ME is the primary way to get onto Vinalhaven Island. You may drive on or walk on. The ferry holds approximately 20 cars each. If you drive on, I would suggest making reservations for a ferry in advance, especially for leaving Vinalhaven. You must arrive to the Rockland ferry terminal about an hour in advance of your ferry reservation. If you walk on, you can park your car in the long-term parking lot at the ferry terminal for a cost/day. If you walk-on with a bike (which is a great idea!) they will charge you about $27.00 extra for the bike. We recommend purchasing all ferry tickets in advance. We will help pick walk-ons up from the Vinalhaven ferry terminal and transport you to where you would like to go. We would appreciate hearing from you in advance if you anticipate wanting to be picked up from the VH ferry landing. Consider how you would like to independently travel about the Island, once you are there.

Patrick and Emma's Wedding Shuttle

We will have a shuttle to transport guests to and from the VH ferry terminal on the day of our wedding. This is for folks who wish to make our wedding a day trip. We appreciate you letting us know in advance that you wish to utilize the shuttle so that we can plan ahead. Let us know what morning ferry you will be arriving on. This shuttle will bring guests back to the VH ferry terminal, in time to walk on to the 4:30pm ferry. We are happy to try and make specialized arrangements with you if need be.

Concord Coach Lines

This is the Maine State bus service. It has routes connecting the Boston Logan Airport, Portland Bus/Train Station, and the Rockland Ferry Terminal. Boston Logan Airport to Rockland, ME (unloads at the ferry terminal): Bus leaves Boston Airport at 10:35 AM, daily. 5 hour trip with one transfer. Arrives at Rockland Ferry Terminal at 3:30 pm. One trip per day. $45.00 per person. You could catch the 4:30 PM ferry to VH (last ferry of the day), or stay overnight in Rockland. Portland, ME bus station to Rockland, ME (ferry terminal): Leaves Portland at 1:15 PM, daily. 2 hrs 15 min, no transfers. Arrives in Rockland at 3:30 PM. One trip per day. $25.00 per person. You could catch with 4:30 PM ferry to VH (last ferry of the day), or stay overnight in Rockland. * It is an 8 minute Uber/taxi ride from the Portland International Jetport to the Concord Coachlines bus station. The Concord Coachlines bus leaves Rockland Ferry Terminal at 8:50 AM, daily. You could catch with 7:00 AM ferry leaving VH that morning. *Ferry departs late on Tuesday mornings due to fueling.
