Miguel had the engagement ring picked out for half a year before he proposed to Emma. The gold band with a diamond gem was enclosed in a slim black box, tucked away until the first sign of spring. When Miguel woke up on April 24th, 2025 and turned to look at Emma, he knew today was the day he would ask her to be his forever. When they arrived in Chicago that Thursday, Miguel had several back up plans in case the cherry blossoms were gone. Cherry blossoms are one of the most elusive natural occurrence. They bloom for only two weeks out of the year, and even that is dependent on the weather. The trip and hotel were booked with the possibility that the cherry blossoms may or may not bloom. Before they drove to Chicago, Emma demanded that they return so she could pack a heavy sweater. The sweater had cherry blossom motifs all over the fabric and cherry blossom buttons. Chicago, like Indy, is known for unpredictable weather. The sun beamed and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. It would have all been perfect if it weren't so windy. Miguel excitedly guided Emma through the streets of Chicago, but Emma was too cold. She needed another jacket on top of the cherry blossom one she had. They quickly stopped by Marshalls and spent about 20 minutes trying to pick out a sweater, delaying Miguel's plans yet again. Once they arrived at Jackson Park, Miguel went quiet. They strolled under the pink cherry blossoms in silence. Pink petals paved their path and then Miguel got on one knee and asked the most important of all questions: Will you marry me? They hugged so hard that the lens popped out of Emma's glasses. Miguel and Emma were not aware that someone was watching, let alone taking a picture of their proposal. The picture below is the genuine moment where they said yes to forever. Had they been a minute earlier or a minute later, this picture would not exist. Some may call it coincidence, but Emma and Miguel like to think that this was destined to happen with the help of divine intervention.

Se abrazaron tan fuerte que los lentes de Emma se rompieron. Miguel y Emma no se daban cuenta de que alguien los estaba observando, y mucho menos tomando una foto del momento. La foto de abajo es el momento genuino en que dijeron “sí” para siempre. Si hubieran llegado un minuto antes o un minuto después, esta foto no existiría. Algunos pueden llamarlo coincidencia, pero a Emma y Miguel les gusta pensar que esto estaba destinado a suceder con la ayuda de la intervención divina.
