Our engagement in Williamsburg, Virginia
EMMA'S SIDE OF THE STORY Kevin definitely has a longer version of the story, but here’s mine! I had been at W&M for about seven months when a few of my friends who knew Kevin told me he had a crush on me (so college, I know). I thought he was cute on Instagram + the bible verse in his bio was my favorite verse and obviously I found that intriguing! However, in the busy volleyball season, I really wasn't out and about in a place to meet him organically and a relationship was the last thing on my mind! In January, I officially met him at some mutual friends’ birthday party (shoutout Anna and Gabi!). We hit it off right away while roasting our friends in drinking games for being so bad and not competitive enough. For context, I was in a very “anti-men” era — fully enjoying my singleness and having a blast during my first spring at a new school. But Kevin was just so fun to talk to, and I felt comfortable around him the whole night. To top it off, he dropped my friends and me off safely afterward. Such a gentleman, right? The following week, I accidentally set myself up for Kevin to ask me on a date — after he slid into my DMs to get my real number. (Cringey I know, but I accidentally left out a digit when I gave him my number the first time lol!) And the rest is history! One thing is clear: God placed Kevin in my life at the perfect time, and He has blessed every part of our story together. Let’s get married!!! KEVIN'S SIDE OF THE STORY Our story starts at William & Mary, where Emma had just transferred and we happened to share the same strength coach—she worked out after football so I had seen her around. I (not so subtly) kept asking the coach to put in a good word, but he insisted that would be “unprofessional.” Fate stepped in when Marcus and I got invited to a mutual friend’s birthday party (thanks, Gabi and Anna!), and I saw Emma’s name on the guest list. I almost bailed after oversleeping—but thankfully, Marcus made sure I didn’t. The volleyball team knew about my not-so-secret crush, and somehow Emma and I ended up playing flip cup together (totally a coincidence, of course). We hit it off and ended the night, like all good W&M students, at College Delly. We talked the whole time, and I knew there was something special about her. When I found out she hadn’t explored much of Williamsburg (she hadn’t even been to Billsburg!), I asked if she’d go with me sometime. She said yes, and I thought I got her number—only to realize later it had an extra digit. After a good ole fashioned Instagram DM, I secured the correct number. A few days later, we talked for hours in my car at Sonic, long enough for Freda to think she’d been kidnapped. From that night on, I knew I was going to marry her. Country Music trivia, a long drive, and a few rounds of golf only solidified that thought. So shoutout to great friends, blue blazers, and great looks. Emma’s a lucky girl
