Josh and Emma met at work, though they both were working in different specialities with little chance of ever running into each other in the massive halls of Mayo Clinic. However, COVID decreased the number of surgeries happening, so Emma's surgical floor was taking on some medical patients and so... cue Doc Josh. On one of Emma's work weekends, she was lucky enough to be assigned a medical patient that just so happened to be one of Josh's patients that he was caring for. If you ask Emma, she thought that work weekend was strictly business as they both cared for a particularly busy patient. If you ask Josh, he will say that Emma was paging him a little bit more than usual to come see the patient, forcing him to make the trek across the whole hospital on multiple occasions. After many interactions that weekend, social media played a great wingman, reconnecting the 2 later on so that they could get to know each other outside of the work place. Looking back, Josh says that he was immediately drawn to Emma's wit and sense of humor, and Emma admired Josh's gentle heart and caring soul. Fast forward to June 2021, we had spent a little over a year together, creating a strong foundation for a relationship. Thanks to COVID, restaurants and activities for date nights were shut down, so we were forced to have many nights of deep conversations and making home cooked meals instead of a night out downtown. We like to think that this is what really made us connect with another so deeply and so quickly. Then on June 19, 2021, Josh pulled off the proposal straight out of fairytale and surprised Emma with a horse-drawn carriage and even created a book recounting all of our favorite memories. He then popped the question on the Stone Arch Bride in Minneapolis, surrounded by both families and close friends. The past 2 years have been filled with lots of adventures, laughs, and lessons as we navigated our first home and puppy together. We are so excited to officially join our lives together, and cannot wait for all of the memories that are still to come.
