We are so excited to get to share our home with you all for the weekend! Below are a few of our recommendations!

Leadville

Leadville has a cute downtown with some good food and interesting shops. Below are our recommendations. FOOD: Zero Day Coffee - This cute little coffee shop make good coffee and has the occasional delicious baked good. City on a Hill - Located on Main Street, City on a Hill has coffee, breakfast burritos, baked goods, and lunch options. Treeline - A nice spot for dinner/apps. Check out the rooftop bar if its a nice day! Past Time Bar - Our favorite spot to grab a beer! SHOPS: Galena - This store was started by some dear friends and Emma helped design and sew their original button down t-shirts. Harperrose Gallery - a beautiful art gallery.

Leadville Hiking

There is a plethora of excellent hiking around Leadville! The below recommendations are some of the more accessible hikes which are great for folks adjusting to altitude. As a reminder, it takes a long time for snow to melt and most places above 11000 will still have snow. Turquoise Lake Trail: This is a lovely, flat, out and back hike located 5 minutes from the venue. We recommend this hike if you want big views and minimal elevation! https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7003128/turquoise-lake-trail Mayflower Gulch: This is a slightly longer and more up hill hike the brings you to a gorgeous alpine meadow at the base of an impressive mountain skyline. We recommend this hike if you don't mind some elevation gain and want to get beautiful views. https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7005706/mayflower-gulch-road Twin Lakes: Another beautiful flat(ish) hike around a local lake. The views are amazing! https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7106942/interlakin-hotel-trail

Other Fun Things Around Leadville

Leadville Railroad: Enjoy a scenic train ride through the heart of the Rockies! Mineral Belt Trail: This is a beautiful 12 mile paved bike path around Leadville. Check out Cycles of Life or E-Bike Leadville for bike rentals. Hot Springs: Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and Charlotte Hot Springs are both great hot springs that are about an hour away! White Water Rafting: The Arkansas River is has amazing white water rafting. Check out Performance Tours or the RMOC for guided trips! Golfing: Play a round at the highest elevation golf course in the US at the Mt. Massive Golf Course!

Surrounding Towns

If you're looking to explore nearby towns below are some recommendations: BRECKENRIDGE We have spent the last five years living in Breck and love it here! Breckenridge offers a fun main street full of shopping and good food! Our favorites are Cool River Coffee House, Sanchos Tacos, and Tinplate Pizza. If you're looking to stretch the legs we recommend walking out Boreas Pass Road (great views) or exploring mining ruins from the B&B trailhead. BUENA VISTA and SALIDA These towns to the south offer warmer temps, lower elevations, a beautiful river, excellent food and fun main streets to explore. If heading to Buena Vista, we recommend checking out the Trailhead and House Rock Kitchen. A few highlights in Salida are the Little Red Hen Bakery, Sweeties Sandwich Shop, and the Biker and the Baker! Both of these towns offer lovely hiking and river access. In Buena Vista, check out the Midland trails and in Salida check out the S-Mountain trail system for running or biking.

Biking/Skiing

For those of us with bikes and skis on the mind there are ample opportunities to recreate around Leadville and it would bring us immense joy to know that you all are getting out and having fun! Keep your eyes out for group rides/skis throughout the weekend. BIKING Swamp Angel is a new flow trail located to the south east of town. PLEASE go bike this trail!! Otherwise Colorado Mountain College has some fun biking behind its campus. MTNBike Project/TrailForks is accurate! Buena Vista and Salida also have excellent biking! SKIING Our mountains will still be holding plenty of snow in June and there are lots of great backcountry ski options! For shorter missions check out lines off Independence Pass. Reach out for recommendations. Use thoughtful & conservative judgement please!
