Emma and Chet’s chapter began in June 2022, just 1 week after Chet moved to Denver. After Emma made the first move on Bumble, the two met at a local brewery. The real "test" came when Emma invited Chet to a friend's wedding just three dates in. To her surprise, Chet showed up hours later with a fresh haircut, properly dressed, and ready to dance. They ended the night as the very last couple on the dance floor, setting the tone for the years to follow. Through six months of Emma’s solo world travels, Chet remained her steady home base. Together, they’ve conquered Colorado’s highest peaks, explored the country on weekend getaways, and maintained their title as "wedding dance floor champions" many times over. Their greatest adventure began in September 2025 during a three-week road trip through the American Southwest. On September 12th, as the sun rose over the Grand Canyon, Chet knelt down and asked Emma to spend the rest of her life with him. Fun fact: Emma’s opening question on Bumble was “If you could take a roadtrip anywhere, where would you go?”. Chet answered, “The American Southwest”. Little did they know that 3 years later, that roadtrip would be the one they’d decide to spend the rest of their lives together. *Visit the "Travel" page for more details about Colorado and our venue*
One night while sitting in his extended stay hotel room (he didn't find a place to live when he moved out to Colorado), Chet matched with Emma on Bumble. One week later on June 25th, Emma and Chet had their first date. This was also the day Chet moved into somebody's basement in Aurora, Colorado meaning he was here to stay. Their first date was at a brewery in downtown Denver that Chet was technically not late for as it was simply a parking issue. After the date Emma agreed to a few more and eventually Chet had reached the lauded status of “special friend”. In September of 2022, Chet and Emma took their first road trip together to explore Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Chet and Emma eventually became official, although the actual date of that occurring has been lost to time. Emma abandoned Chet for her first trip in the spring of 2024 when she went to Central America for 3 months. Chet decided to finally renew his passport that had been expired for a few months in order to visit Emma and hike a volcano with her in Guatemala. When Emma finally returned to the states the hiking trend continued with the highest points in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona completed together. In addition to the highest points in the American Southwest, Chet and Emma have completed 11 14,000 foot mountains together (Chet has done 21 in total). After Emma abandoned Chet once again in 2025 for 4 1/2 months to travel Asia, Chet decided it was probably time to lock this down. Over the next few months Chet became more familiar with engagement ring design than he ever wanted. Eventually Chet found the perfect ring: a Marquis Cut diamond with a perfect 1.8 height to width ratio, G color, VVS2 rated, placed into a three stone ring with a yellow gold band that had a fancy twist (Just what Emma had envisioned). The next step was making sure Emma didn’t find the ring while they were exploring Utah and Arizona living out of the back of Chet's lifted 2021 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium with a custom stump bumper and a winch. The ring was kept in the sock compartment of Chet's duffle bag, which was left on top of the car on more than one occasion to make room in the back for sleeping. Luckily it was never stolen and they arrived at the Grand Canyon with everything necessary to get engaged; the ring, the canyon, and most importantly, Emma. After booking a lodge room so they could shower for the first time in a few days, the plan was set. After waking up at 4:30am to drive to the rim of the canyon, they arrived and were pleasantly surprised to have the lookout to themselves. After watching a distant thunderstorm for a few minutes, the sun finally started to rise. Chet fumbled over to his backpack to get the ring while pretending he was setting up his phone to take a video of the sunrise. Emma clearly had no idea what was about to occur as Chet is a master of keeping secrets and it was perfectly normal he specifically requested she wear nice clothes to go watch the sunrise at 4:57am. After spending what felt like 45 seconds trying to open the ring box, the question was finally asked, and Emma more likely than not responded "yes" (video evidence is not conclusive). The rest is history. A FUN FACT: Americans eat roughly 150 million hot dogs every 4th of July.
