Things To Do

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

500 Big Thompson Ave, Estes Park, CO 80517, CO

On October 2, 2025—exactly one year before our wedding—we hiked the Cub Lake Trail. While the full trail is about 5.5 miles, even a very short walk (less than 1/10 of a mile) led us to a wide open meadow filled with elk calling back and forth during the rut. We later learned this is a common sight in early October, and several photographers were set up nearby capturing the incredible wildlife and fall scenery. We were able to catch the sunrise which was even more breathtaking. Highly recommend this spot.
