Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code is Formal/Black Tie Optional. Keep in mind that the ceremony is at 3 o'clock PM so colorful dresses and lighter colored suits are welcome and encouraged. For the women either a long length dress, formal mid-length cocktail dress or a dressy pantsuit. You are also welcome to wear a fascinator hat or headband if you would like as there will be Scottish influences throughout the wedding. For the men either a tuxedo, suit and tie, or a kilt.

Where is the ceremony and reception located?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception are taking place at The Riverside Inn. The address is 302 River St. Leland, MI 49654. Weather permitting the ceremony and cocktail 'hour' will take place outside on the deck and patio. The dinner will take place inside the Inn.

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ceremony starts at 3 o'clock PM so we are asking guests to arrive between 2:30-2:50 PM to allow plenty of time to be seated.

How should I get there?

Answer

Our hope is that many of you will be staying in Leland and able to walk. However for those that have booked outside of Leland or are unable to walk Uber is a great option. There are a few local taxi companies as well. You are also able to drive but street parking will be limited.

How do I RSVP?

Answer

You will RSVP on this website under the RSVP tab. Direction will be on the invitations. When you RSVP you will also fill out your meal choice and any dietary requirements. Please do not RSVP by texting the bride, groom or a family member as these can get lost or forgotten.

When do I need to RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSPV by the 13th of July 2025. If we have not received your RSVP through the website by this date we will assume you are unable to attend and we will be unable to make any changes after this date.

When will we eat?

Answer

After the ceremony there will be a cocktail 'hour' where drinks and appetizers will be served. Dinner will then be served around 5:30 PM.

Will there be alcohol served?

Answer

Yes! There will be an open bar. If however we somehow meet our catering total then the bar will then turn to a cash bar. This is very unlikely though.

Can I take photos?

Answer

While we love that you want to capture our special moments, we kindly request that phones and devices are put away during the ceremony to allow everyone to be fully present and immersed in the experience. We have Emma's cousin, Zach, as the wonderful photographer who will capture the whole ceremony and we will share the photos with you afterwards. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in creating a distraction-free environment for our ceremony. After the ceremony you are welcome to take as many photos are you would like.

Will there be dancing?

Answer

This will be a small and more intimate wedding and dinner reception where our hope is to spend as much time as possible with our family and friends. To allow for this we will be using the last 2 hours of the reception to have drinks and mingle with everyone instead of dancing! There will be music and you're more than welcome to dance. However, there will not be a specific dance floor or DJ. Due to being an international couple, this will likely be the only time our family and friends get to meet so we are hopeful everyone has time to get to know each other.

When does the Reception end?

Due to Michigan noise ordinances and the Riverside Inn hours the music and bar will be stopping at 10 PM. You are welcome to finish your drink and say goodbyes afterwards until about 10:30 PM

What might the weather be like?

Answer

In previous years on September 13th in Leland the weather has ranged from 17 to 23 degrees celsius with cool morning and evenings.
