The origins of Panicale date back to the Etruscans who inhabited the area in the 7th-century BC. The town became a refuge for the Roman soldiers who survived the battle of Lake Trasimeno.
The village doesn’t look much different than it did 1,000 years ago. With the exception of delicious coffee, bars, and restaurants.
All week, we'll be enjoying life in the piazza! From morning cappuccini and cornetti, to aperitivi and cicchetti in the afternoon.
There are many nearby villages to explore. Cortona, Tuscany, is just a short drive across the valley. You can reach Florence by car in just an hour and a half. Or take a train from Chiusi to Rome or Naples for the day.
There are hundreds of wineries in the region. You can do a wine tour in Montepulciano or Montefalco, just 45 minutes away.
