(Emma speaking): Italy holds a very special place in my heart. Since I was five, I've spent my summers in Umbria with my family and our "Italian family." James and I spent two weeks here in 2018 and have been itching to get back ever since. And my parents love it so much that they bought a house in Panicale. There's nowhere we'd rather celebrate with all the people we love than here!
As soon as possible, and no later than April 30th.
There are a ton of apartments and villas available for rent in both Panicale and neighboring towns. We recommend booking one of these since the boutique hotel in Panicale (Rastrello) is small. That said, there are a few rooms and apartments still available at the Rastrello, so if you have a small party please reach out to us and we'll help you with the booking.
Yes! The driver in your party must obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) to accompany their US driver's license before you arrive. This application process is affordable (about $20) but it can take several weeks, so please do this well in advance! See the Travel page for specific instructions on how to get one.
Yes! The venue is very close to Panicale (which should be walkable from most rentals) so it'll be a quick ride from the town center to the celebration and back. Please be in the Panicale town center at 4:30pm to be transported to the venue. The drop off location at the end of the night will also be the town center, so please arrange any follow-on transport to your specific accommodations in advance.
Yes! There will be plenty of parking for folks who want to drive. Note: Please park in the large lot at the bottom of the ceremony site, which is the first big lot you'll see. Do not proceed into the venue itself to park, as that will be where our ceremony and aperitivo will take place.
Yes again! We'll be doing a ton of activities in the week leading up to our wedding. Keep an eye on the Schedule page for more info.
We are not. We've been 'playing house' for years, so our home is stocked with all the goods we need.
We understand that this trip is a big undertaking, so while gifts are welcome they are absolutely not expected.
If listed on your invite, yes!
Again, if listed on your invite, yes!
PASSPORTS. Period. Please check the expiration date on your passport and give yourself ample time to get it renewed! Second, to avoid fees and higher rates, call your cell provider or visit online to shop international roaming plans. Third, the electrical outlets in Italy are different from the ones in the US, so bring an adapter!
Many people in Italy (and even in Panicale) speak English, but it's always nice to learn the basics of the local language. Duolingo is free, so why not?
