Our Love Story

We met in 2014 in Miami when Emily's agency started working with Carnival Cruise Line. Little did she know her path was about to intersect with a certain Carnival employee (don't worry, no HR violations or breaches of professional conduct occurred in this story ;)). As Emily's month long assignment turned into a multi-year project, sparks flew between us. There was playful banter, some romantic gesture - flowers left on Emily's desk, faux Carnival marketing pieces sent back to Jack. But ultimately the timing never worked out as our life adventures took us seperate ways - Jack to new work opportunities in San Francisco and Emily back to Minneapolis. Despite never being in the same place, as weeks turned to months to years, our bond deepened. Through seperate adventures in California, Minneapolis, Miami, and Austin, a friendship blossomed over text, phone calls, and sharing about our adventures. Then this global pandemic happened. Both of us were holed up in our apartments. Jack was in Austin, and Emily was dreading being quarantined in her Minneapolis apartment through another long winter. Emily might say she thought anywhere sounded nicer than Minnesota in winter. Jack might say she went chasing after him, we'll let you be the judge. In any case, Emily decided it was time for another adventure and took a trip to Austin in November of 2020. We met up at a coffee shop - again our recollections may differ, Emily might say Jack stalked a coffeeshop near her airbnb and nowhere near his apartment until she was free to meet up. From there, our relationship flourished, culminating in a memorable third date (too soon?) to Jack's parents for Thanksgiving. The promising start to our relationship though hit a now very familiar impasse - Jack was living in Austin and Emily in Minnesota. So we decided to take another adventure. Taking advantage of the new pandemic remote work world, we spent the month of January together in San Diego. Discovering the depths of our love all while even surviving severe food poisoning together in our one bathroom AirBnb. While in San Diego we decided to keep this adventure going. After the trip, Jack braved Minnesota winter weather to help Emily pack up her apartment, and we moved in together back in Austin. After 6 more months together, Jack asked Emily's parents for permission to propose to her. Thanksfully they said yes. So in September, 2021 on a trip to Greece, Jack proposed to Emily on a boat off the coast of Chania, Crete at sunset. We enjoyed an unforgettable engagement trip celebrating, drinking wine, scuba diving, and laughing together. Our love story had been a whirlwind of adventures, and there we talked about starting a new one - having a family. Like many, our path to parenthood was filled with challenges. After two painful years of miscarriages and heartache, we were blessed with the arrival of Baby Owen, the new love of our lives. Emily cherishes Jack's kind-heartedness and his ability to make her laugh, even in the most stressful times. And Jack admires Emily's passion, love, and resilience that it took to bring our family together. With over 3 years of preparing for our wedding, we cannot wait to celebrate and spend quality time with all of you! We are so grateful for your love and support and THANK YOU for being part of our lives. We love you!
