Savannah is so rich in history, culture, and architecture. The best way to see the city is to walk it. So put on your comfy shoes and get ready to explore. There is no guide for this, just start walking. Check out the dozens of historical squares, hit up Leopold's Ice Cream, and adventure over to the Cathedral Basilica. Jones Street is one of our favorite streets in the city with the cobblestone roads, historic mansions, and stunning oak trees dripping with Spanish moss. Jones Street is one of the best areas to soak in the quintessential Southern charm. We cannot wait for you to fall in love with Savannah!
Savannah is known for its many parks but Forsyth is a must see when you're visiting the city. Whether you are just strolling through the park on an afternoon walk, grabbing a bite to eat at Collins Quarter, enjoying the free courts for a quick game of tennis or basketball, relaxing under the trees reading or people watching, or even shopping the local vendors on Saturday at the farmers market, Forsyth is simply beautiful! Our favorite way to enjoy the park is on a morning coffee walk or in the afternoon for some shade to escape the warm Savannah heat!
If time allows, we definitely recommend booking this class. It is such a fun way to learn more about the history of cocktails while playing bartender. Certified bartenders will teach you how to make classic Prohibition Era cocktails while also teaching you the history behind them. Eat beforehand and book in advance- tickets sell out quickly!
Biking is another great way to explore Savannah. We got adventurous one day and biked to Bonaventure Cemetery to see the stunning moss draped oak trees and beautiful Victorian sculptures. If you're down for an adventure, we highly recommend. There are several bike rental companies to choose from to explore the many trails and biking paths around the city. If you're staying at The Alida Hotel, rentals are complimentary for all guests!
THE GREATEST SHOW IN SPORTS! The Savannah Bananas will be in town the weekend of the wedding (June 4-6). They have not announced game times or released tickets yet. Check back in for when they come available, they are a must see for sure!
Tybee is a small coastal community located just 18 miles from downtown Savannah. If you have the chance to check it out, you won't be disappointed! Whether you want to enjoy the fresh seafood restaurants, explore the local shops, or just relax on the beach, Tybee offers something for everyone.
Shopping in Savannah offers a mixture of historic charm and modern luxury. Visit Broughton Street (also known as the "Main Street") for local boutiques and mainstream shops, the River District for souvenirs and sweet treats, City Market for art galleries and unique boutiques, and Whitaker Street which is better known as the design district.
