Picturesque 600+ foot waterfall and a Portland must-visit. There are hiking trail options for outdoorsy folks, or you can relax and have a nice meal at the lodge.
This is one of the first places Stevyn and Emily went to when he moved here. A great option for those who want a taste of nature while visiting downtown Portland.
Very beautiful spot. Close to the Oregon Zoo for anyone who wants to make a day of seeing animals and visiting the gardens.
What can I say, we love gardens! This one is definitely the biggest and the best spot for taking nature shots of birds.
Portland is actually named "the city of roses" and this is definitely the top spot to see why. There are over 600+ varieties of roses here at the garden.
Stevyn and Emily's favorite low-key hiking spot.
It's not a trip to Portland without checking out the massive book options at Powell's.
Emily loves wandering around and finding cool street art, whether that's in Berlin, L.A. or Portland. If that's something you think is fun, check out this handy guide to the various street art in Portland. Shoutout to Emily's homies Kiersten and Bre who have taken her out on many a street art adventure!
While Voodoo Doughnut has expanded to other states now, it is a Portland original. If you've never been, then you are in for a treat (literally you will get doughnuts). Don't let the long line deter you, it goes by pretty fast. And remember to bring cash, as that's all they take. Enjoy the fun doughnut creations, pink boxes, punk music, and glitter-stained brick walls.
Like Voodoo Doughnuts, this is a chain originating in Portland, which has since spread to other states. If you have never tried Salt & Straw, might as well try it in its native land. This is the ice cream paradise for those who like to try fun flavors. Emily's go-to is one scoop with half Honey Lavender and half Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons. *There are multiple locations in the Portland area, Stevyn and Emily frequent the one in Lake Oswego.
The Willamette Valley (running from Portland down to Eugene) holds 2/3 of all of Oregon's wineries. So if wine is your thing, there are plenty to choose from close by! When I say plenty, I sure mean it, as there are 700+ wineries alone in the Willamette Valley.
Rather go for a beer than wine? Well within the Portland city limits alone there are 70+ breweries to choose from. Go get your hops on.
If you have time to travel out of Portland and want to visit an active volcano!
If you love cheese then the Tillamook factory is your place. Stevyn and Emily have been here many times. I mean who doesn't love cheese samples?!
For any adrenaline junkies out there who want to skydive, this is where Emily had her first jump when she was 18. It was a clear day and the views were crazy, you can see Mt. Hood, Mt. Saint Helens, and Mt. Jefferson at the same time!
