Our Story

Nothing Fancy Just Love

Emily and Simon met on Hinge (where all true modern-day love stories begin). Neither of them were looking for another relationship, but that's beside the point because everything happens for a reason, and they were both in the right place at the right time. Simon was rare for his kind and asked for Emily's phone number. This sparked her interest because he texted her in-depth daily for a month, even though she answered once daily. For anyone who knows Emily, she never makes things easy; this was no exception. Amidst a hurricane and rushing home to beat the storm and catch a flight to Iceland with her sister, Emily foolishly canceled their first date but promised when she returned, they would meet. On this trip, Emily finally had time to get to know Simon more; his curiosity for life and getting to know her as a person roped her in. Simon was kind but funny, unlike anyone else she had ever talked with. On the way home from Iceland, the stranger next to Emily fell asleep on her, and she asked Simon what to do (this was a test to see if he was TO nice). He suggested blasting her with the AC and waking her up. At that moment, Emily knew she was in trouble and met her match. On our first date, Emily and Simon walked 5.2 miles down the Tampa Riverwalk. Simon could, in fact, keep pace at the hot girl walk, but most importantly, it was like old friends catching up. That day, they meshed so well and chatted for hours that they even went to a brewery to continue the night. That night, their lives changed forever. They both knew very early on that they were made for each other because when you know, you know, so much so that a month into knowing each other, they booked a trip to Spain together. Since then, they have been inseparable, growing, learning, and enjoying each others love. In between three apartments together, four surgeries, five hurricanes, seven countries, and countless surprises and events in between, they have finally made it here. Simon proposed to Emily on a trip to Lapland, Finland (aka the North Pole) at Urho Kekkonen National Park. The two had been dog sledding that morning and were "headed to lunch," but there was a national park Simon wanted to walk to the top of. Upon arrival, they did not realize the trail was a cross-country ski slope in the winter, and were falling left and right in their Amazon snow boots. Emily was begging to turn around due to being starving from not eating yet, but they trudged forward. Simon then informed Emily there was no lunch (which was devastating to both of them). He proceeded to get down on one knee, in the serenity and calmness of the fresh coat of winter snow midst the last sunset of 2024 for Finland before the polar night began, and said the kindest words Emily had ever heard. That night, they saw the Northern Lights after Emily had been trying for years since that first trip to Iceland with her sister. It was a sign from the universe, signifying the end of a storybook-perfect day. It was the kind of remarkable day you can only dream about in fairytales or a movie, but living it made them feel like they were floating. We cannot wait to be married and celebrate with all of our friends and family. Each one of you has had such a positive impact on us as a couple and individually. We are genuinely fortunate to gather with all the people who helped define us throughout our lives and celebrate as one big family. We can't wait to see you soon!
