Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

As we all know, Assyrians typically run late, including the wedding party!! HOWEVER, Sam and I plan on keeping to our schedule and running ON TIME. We please ask that our guests do so as well so that we may all celebrate together at the reception and eat at a reasonable time as well. Love you all and can't wait to celebrate together on the BIG DAY!

Question

How will parking be at Mar Gewargis Assyrian Church of the East?

Answer

For those unfamiliar with Mar Gewargis Assyrian Church of the East, the parking lot is very small and will not accommodate all guests attending the church service. Street parking will be the best option.

Question

How will parking be at Crystal Palace (reception)?

Answer

All parking will be valet at no extra charge to ensure the 200 plus spots available in the parking lot. If you do not wish to have your car valet parked, please feel free to park in the plaza parking lot.

Question

What is the predicted weather for September 21st?

Answer

As of now, the weather is expected to be +77º and partly cloudy. Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors. The most time spent outside will be during Palatah'd Kalou!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

During the church service we ask that guests dress modestly. During the reception, please wear what you feel most beautiful/handsome in to celebrate with us!

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

OF COURSE! We only ask that you please indicate number of children attending the wedding when sending in your RSVP card.

Question

Answer

Question

What is Palatah'd Kalou?

Answer

This is an Assyrian tradition involving the groom’s family requesting that the bride come with them to church. Relatives of the bride will ask for money from the groom’s family. In other words, the bride’s family is demanding a dowry. As the negotiation is occurring, the doors of the bride’s home are shut and guarded by a family member. When the groom’s family pays the exit fee, the bride is allowed to leave with the groom’s family at last with a celebration!
