Preus and Emily met while Preus was on vicarage at Memorial Lutheran Church. Emily had accepted an internship with Memorial Lutheran School, as well as a job to be a History/Latin teacher in the Upper School the following year. Preus says he initially saw Emily taking communion at the altar rail and was awestruck by her beauty, thinking to himself, "I have to meet this girl". Well, as God would have it, Laura Molitor was looking out for Emily and introduced Vicar Hasselbrook to her in an effort to get her involved in the young adults group at Memorial Lutheran Church. After meeting one night at young adults, Preus and Emily realized they had much in common and continued to talk every day. Preus and Emily started dating (or rather, flying) and spending as much free time together as possible. They had many dates via FaceTime and traveled every break, spending much time with their families. On March 8th, 2025, Preus proposed, and the two spent spring break together making many good memories. God intervened again, as Pastor Paul worked to have Preus called as an Associate Pastor and teacher at Memorial. Thank God he did, or else they would have lost their favorite teacher, Miss Cherington. On April 28th, 2025, Preus was called to serve at Memorial. They are now planning their fall wedding and are very excited to be in the same state, serving the Lord at Memorial.
