what is the best airport/ hotel?

Closest airport is GSP Greenville Spartanburg SC--alternates would be Charlotte NC (1.5hrs away) or Atlanta( 2.5hrs away) or Asheville AVL to the north( 1hr to Greenville and 30mins to Tryon)---NOTE--the area where the wedding is held Tryon/ Landrum is small towns with no major chain hotels. Big hotel chains are easier found in Greenville. If you want to see the area Asheville has a lot of fun to offer with many large Hotel chains also. If you need help just ask us.

what is FENCE?

FENCE stands for Foothills Equestrian and Nature center ...FENCE offers 384 acres of hardwood forest, meadow, and wetland for hikers, birdwatchers, gardeners, astronomers - anyone who enjoys connecting with nature and learning how to preserve our precious natural resources. The entire property is protected by a conservation easement, so it will always be available for future generations. Fence offers a natural history curriculum to approx 8K students during the school year. FENCE nature program is open to Girl scouts and boy scouts. Emily in Girl scouts had field trips to the nature center for about 7 years which is how we knew about FENCE. She also attended summer camp and horse back riding lessons there. FENCE for 76 years had the famous Blockhouse Steeplechase which was hosted by the Tryon Riding and Hunt club but sadly was suspended in 2025.

Both love red and red wine color and black ... secondary is purple...Fun facts--Emily loves Bats and Nick likes Star Wars and guitars(He plays Bass in a band)..both love Jurassic park and all things Dinosaur( Emily knows the names of all the Dinosaurs!)Emily and Nick are animal lovers ...both cats ( Dobbie, Nixie, Sphinx, Sparkler, and Dexter) and dogs ( Kara, Luna and Nova) are in the family.

What time should I arrive at the wedding?

Please note the drive from Greenville is approximately an hour, and beware that traffic on Interstate 85 can sometimes resemble a parking lot---The wedding will start at 3pm so plan to be there 15-30 mins prior so you have plenty of time to get parked and be in your seat.

Yes yes yes...dinner and dancing at the reception....and of course wedding cake too! Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements ( like vegetarian) or food allergies.

Reception will be held at the lodge, indoors in air conditioned comfort, just a short walking distance from the wedding site. Please be sure to let us know if walking is a challenge for you so we can help.
