Our Love Story

Nick and Emily first met in 2018 at a young adult event at Saint Sebastian's in Woodside, Queens. They covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time, but the writing was already on the wall: Nick had signed the paperwork to study for the priesthood and was determined to see it through. After one short summer they parted ways. She swore that she would never try to contact him afterwards, and he was consistently surprised that she stuck to her word. Four years later, when Nick, for reasons that are outside the scope of the present text, had to leave the seminary, he heard from mutual friends that Emily was seeing someone else. A year after that, he heard she had gotten engaged. But when (for reasons that are outside the scope of the present text) her engagement ended, she sent him a message. It was a strange night. A Halloween show in Bushwick -- his friends were playing in the costume of classic bands from the 90s and before. More echoes of the past: he ran into a friend from high school and an acquaintance from his years in Boston. He hadn't seen any of these people in years, and certainly hadn't expected to see them then. Somewhere in all of this his phone lit up with a text from Emily. She asked him if he wanted to go see a concert with him; he said he would as long as she was no longer engaged. Buy the ticket, she said, so he did. It was like no time at all had passed. They had covered a lot of ground in 2018, and spent a year and a half falling deeper in love after they reunited. In May of 2025, during a stroll in Central Park, after spinning a series of elaborate ruses which ensured that her hair, makeup, and nails would be done for the occasion, he asked her to marry him. Now they are excited to begin their life together, starting with a wedding ceremony in beautiful Cartagena, Colombia.
