Things To Do

Nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains just 45 minutes from Asheville, Hot Springs is an Appalachian Trail stopover and a relaxing retreat. Definitely make time for at least a day or two in Asheville, and check out our recommendations below.

Explore Hot Springs

Check out the sweet little town of Hot Springs and take advantage of its namesake.

Go for a hike

Hot Springs is surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest, the French Broad River and the Appalachian Trail. Find the perfect hike on appalachiantrail.org or hikingupward.com.

Rafting on the French Broad

Go for a lazy float or a white water rafting adventure!

Hot Springs Homegrown & Handmade Market

81 Bridge Street, Hot Springs, NC

A teeny tiny local farmers and craft market on Saturday from 10-2.

Mosaic Gourmet

159 Bridge Street, Hot Springs, NC

A laid-back bar and restaurant with refined pub fare and a huge screened in porch. We're having happy hour here on Friday night (see Schedule page) but we also recommend grabbing a meal here. The crab cakes are delicious, and we've heard great things about breakfast/brunch.

Breweries

Asheville, NC

They don't call it Beer City USA for nothing. There are endless options, but we're especially fond of the outdoor seating at Burial, Wedge, and New Belgium.

River Arts District

Asheville, NC

This industrial side of town along the French Broad is full of local artist studios and galleries that are open to the public. While you're here, get a beer at Wedge or New Belgium and lunch at White Duck Taco.

The Montford Rooftop Bar

199 Hayward Street, Asheville, NC

Catch a stunning view and an excellent cocktail at the Montford (rooftop bar at the Hyatt Place). Get the pimento cheese!! Free valet parking.

The Times Cocktail Bar

56 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC

Killer cocktails!

White Duck Taco

1 Roberts St., Asheville, NC

This delightfully offbeat taqueria has a few locations. We like the outdoor seating at the one in the River Arts District.

Cúrate

13 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, NC

Phenomenal Spanish food & wine!! Make a reservation well in advance. We highly recommend the salt cod fritters and the eggplant with honey.

Gan Shan Station

143 Charlotte Street, Asheville, NC

A delightful variety of Asian cuisine and stellar cocktails. Get the Gan Shan Gimlet and the Korean cabbage wraps for sure!

Liberty House Cafe

221 S Liberty Street, Asheville, NC

Go here for breakfast and specialty coffee. Get the honey-lavender latte! We loved it so much we ate there two days in a row.

Early Girl Eatery

8 Wall Street, Asheville, NC

Fabulous Southern breakfast fare with a ton of vegetarian options. As the name suggests, arrive early to beat the crowds.
