We bonded over our shared love of the outdoors, and when we got engaged, it was important to us for that to be represented in where we got married. We also love and have aspirations of living in the Pacific Northwest one day, so this is also a trial run to make sure our favorite people know how to get to us. We think you'll see why we chose the venue we did :)
Portland (PDX) is the closest airport. We recommend renting a car, and Hood River takes about an hour to get to by car. (See stops & sites tab for recommendations along the way to break up the drive!) Having a car will come in handy throughout the weekend since there are no Ubers or Lyfts in Hood River (they do have taxis).
In a word, no. We are providing shuttles to and from the venue from Best Western. We know not everyone is staying at the Best Western, and we are in process of determining a second location for the shuttle to pick up/drop off. We have a limited number of designated parking spots that are available to guests. Please reach out to us directly to coordinate if you're interested in driving. Cars cannot stay at the venue overnight.
While we adore your kids, this weekend is curated for adult fun, and Thursday and Friday's events cannot accommodate kids. We'd love for you to use this weekend as a kid-free vacation, but if your littles do make the trip, feel free to bring them to the park on Saturday!
Thursday: Elevated casual attire. KickStand is a pretty casual vibe, but we say add a little flair to your fit to kick off the wedding weekend! Friday: We're aiming for cocktail/semi-formal and keep in mind the weather; it will get chilly at night so a longer dress or wrap situation may be worth considering. Heads up, guests will also be walking on grass, so for anyone considering heels we'd recommend rethinking stilettos, and opt for a block heel or wedged shoe! Saturday: Whatever the F you want!
All valid questions, climate change is real people! Hood River is known as the "windsurfing capital of the world," so be sure to hold onto your hats! We "should" be past the bulk of smoke season by October from what we've been told, so fingers crossed things trend that way this fall. The Griffin House is an outdoor venue rain or shine baby. That said, if we absolutely need to be protected from the elements, we'll move the ceremony into the clear reception tent, which can be completely enclosed and heated if need be. And if there is even a drizzle during the ceremony, we've got guests covered (literally) with clear umbrellas. Trust us on this, you'll want to be outside for as much of the night as you can after you see the view, but we'd recommend bringing a layer since it can get kind of chilly at night! Okay, that's enough of that; it's going to be 75 and sunny.
