While it's a bit of a drive away from Lynden, SeaTac is generally the best airport to fly into in terms of cost. Seattle is a 2 hour drive from Lynden, filled with lots of sights to see along the way.
Flight
The closest airport to Lynden, Bellingham is the most convenient in terms of proximity. Just 20 minutes south of Lynden, the Bellingham airport is quite small and thus tickets into Bellingham can be quite pricey. If you are able to find a ticket into Bellingham that fits your budget, we would suggest buying it as it cuts 2 hours of drive time off of your trip!
Flight
Still closer than SeaTac, Vancouver is an hour drive from Lynden--but make sure you take your passport with you! Every once-in-a-while we are able to find flights into Vancouver that are less expensive than flights into SeaTac, but the border can sometimes be a hassle, so we would suggest only choosing Vancouver if its quite a bit less expensive!
Hotel
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Lynden, this hotel is relatively new in the area and super modern. Plenty of options for food and entertainment within walking distance of the hotel. Located on the upper floor of the newly renovated Waples Mercantile Building, the first floor contains a book store (Village Books), oil & vinegar shop (Drizzle--their products are AMAZING), restaurant (Avenue Bread--delicious; one of Emily's favorite places to eat when in Lynden), and tap room (Overflow Taps--serve mostly local beers!).
House Or Rental
There are lots of houses to rent in the Lynden/Bellingham/Birch Bay area if you're willing to fore-go the continental breakfast and cook for yourself instead! Some are even less expensive than paying for a hotel room and can give you a home-away-from-home feel.
