Enjoy a walk around Old Town Fort Collins- bursting with bars, restaurants, boutiques, and more!
Take a drive up to Horsetooth Reservoir and get a beautiful view of Fort Collins, the reservoir, and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
Take a walk/hike in Lory State Park on the far side of Horsetooth Reservoir. The Arthur's Rock trail is our favorite! This park has a day pass fee of $10.
Throw a rock and hit a brewery in Fort Collins! Our top favorites include O'Dells (including OBC Winery), New Belgium, Coopersmith, and Stodgys.
The Poudre River cuts through Fort Collins and has a beautiful walking/biking trail alongside it. We love walking the trail and ending with a pint at O'Dells. If it is hot enough, the Poudre is a super fun spot to go tubing!
An hour-ish drive from Fort Collins (closer to Denver) is the famous Red Rocks Ampitheater. It is a really neat spot to check out whether there is a show on or not.
Rocky Mountain National Park is an awe inspiring place that we highly recommend you visit! It is one hour from Fort Collins and has a million different trails of varying difficulty. Bear Lake is the most popular and accessible portion of the park as well as Lily Lake in the shadow of Longs Peak Mountain. Trail Ridge Road offers a scenic drive up to 11,000 feet into the alpine tundra (highest road in the U.S!) October is Elk rutting season, so if you wake up earlier than you want to, you might hear them bugling their hearts out. A Timed Entry ticket and Parks Pass are required to enter and can be reserved at recreation.gov. Estes Park (where Jon works) is the town at the base of RMNP. It is very cute to walk around and has a variety of restaurants and shops. We recommend checking out the Stanley Hotel (which inspired Stephen King's The Shining book--not movie) and getting their Bison Burger.
