Our relationship started the same way all classic love stories do; with a Super Like on Tinder. After one swipe, we were smitten. From then on, we started to build what would become a 6 year long journey culminating in what will surely be the sickest wedding you've ever been to. Dates went from dinner and drinks to planning our future. Plans went from "your place or mine" to arguing over whether or not TAB soda was the Diet Coke before Diet Coke while falling asleep and fighting the pups for space in our bed. Emily somehow stuck around after finding out Jimmy does stand-up comedy, and frequently reminds him that if he would have been bad at comedy, you might not be reading this blurb on a wedding website. Jimmy stuck around after finding out that Emily is allergic to filling her water bottle before bed every night. But neither of us would trade a day of bad jokes or empty water bottles for the last 6 or so years we have spent making a house a home, eating takeout when we should probably be cooking, and making each other laugh at seemingly nothing.
Jimmy proposed to Emily by taking her on a trip down memory lane of their relationship. After nearly giving the surprise away by making her get a ring fitting, being very curious about when she was getting her nails done, and asking her no less than 12 times within the span of 2-weeks if she were free that weekend, the day started at Mint Museum, which is where they had one of their very first dates. As you might imagine, museums aren't the most ideal place to chat and get to know someone, but walking through a museum in near silence for a day was enough to have Jimmy fall in love. After Mint, they got some ice cream, which was not on the agenda, but Emily wanted ice cream so Emily got ice cream. Then, they went to Cabo Fish Taco, a taco place in NoDa, which is where they lived for several years. Cabo was another place where Emily, without really knowing it, made Jimmy fall head over heels. He was going to hang out with some friends later that day, and Emily agreed to come, not knowing they would only talk about early 2000's NFC south football and UFC fights, but spending time with Jimmy was enough for her, and Jimmy was taken by her accepting not only him, but his friends right out of the gate. The proposal culminated in Freedom Park, which Jimmy thought would be nice and private, while also meaningful. It was the first place Emily had ever left Ryu alone with Jimmy, which sealed the deal for him. In trusting him with Ryu (Peep if you're nasty) it was as if Emily was trusting herself with Jimmy. It took a few years too many, but Jimmy brought her back to Freedom Park to ask for her hand. Turns out, public parks are pretty full, especially on nice days and immediately after saying yes, Emily was begging him to get off his knee and sit down so no one caused a scene. Normally, the groom is the anxious one during the proposal, but it seems the burden of stress was a shared one. To relieve the stress, Jimmy organized a surprise party with all of their closest friends at Resident Culture, the brewery in Charlotte where they had their very first date. From then on, life has been about planning, saving, and picturing a perfect wedding, when in reality, regardless of venue, food or music, any wedding with Jimmy and Emily at the altar is a perfect one.
