We're getting married!

In the Fall of 2020, Garrett and Emily moved into Eagle Hall at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where they began their Freshman year of college. Little did they know they would live right across the hall from each other. Shortly after moving in, Emily and her roommate were looking to make some friends. At this time, Garrett was getting back from a run and walking towards his room. Emily's roommate seized the opportunity and introduced themselves to Garrett. All of the roommates quickly became friends. Within a few weeks, Garrett knew Emily was going to be "The One." Even though Emily didn't know it at the time, she later realized that Garrett wasn't so bad himself. On April 22nd, 2022, they started dating! During the Summer of 2022, they spent most of their time apart as Emily was living in Minnesota, and Garrett was living in Wisconsin. They enjoyed visiting each other when they could and sharing their hometowns with each other. In the Fall of 2022, Emily and Garrett began their Junior year of college. During this time, they quickly became inseparable. Their routines became one. Grocery shopping, studying, working out, hanging out with friends, and everything in between. Once the Summer of 2023 rolled around, Garrett went to Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia, and Emily studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain. They went from being connected at the hip to 3,695 miles apart with a six-hour time difference. Emily mailed letters almost daily, and they spoke over the phone when Garrett could. After 2.5 months apart, they rejoiced and began their Senior year of college together. This final year of college consisted of planning next steps, family vacations, and enjoying their final moments in the city of La Crosse. In the Spring of 2024, they graduated from UWL. That summer they took their first steps into their careers. Garrett commissioned into the Marine Corps, and Emily endured her first internship. That Fall, Garrett left for The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, and Emily returned home to Minnesota. They began long-distance once again. Even though they made frequent visits, they knew they were not meant to be apart. So, in February of 2025, Emily moved out to Virginia. Two weeks later, on February 22nd, Garrett proposed! Since their engagement, Garrett has graduated from The Basic School, and they have moved to Pensacola, Florida, where Garrett will be attending Flight School to become a Naval Aviator. They are living in their first real apartment together and enjoying every moment of it! Over the years, Emily and Garrett have enjoyed traveling, running, working out, trying new foods, seeing new things, and experiencing life together. Now, Emily and Garrett have known each other for nearly five years and have been together for over three years, and they are looking forward to everything life has in store for them for years to come.
