Question

Why Big Sky?

Answer

We spent time in Big Sky during our 2020 National Park Road Trip, and we felt an undeniable magic in the air. The grandeur of the mountains, the wind in the pines, the sparkling rivers, just resonated with us. So much so that on the deck at Riverhouse, surrounded by stunning scenery, Emily said she could see us getting married there. Fate brought us back in 2024 and this time, we knew. Big Sky, with its intimate embrace and untamed beauty, is where our adventure continues. We can't wait to be there with you.

Question

Where is Big Sky?

Answer

Big Sky is a small town in southwest Montana, high in the the Rocky Mountains. It's about 50 miles from Bozeman (BZN airport) and 30 miles from the gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Lone Peak towers over Big Sky, and we'll be staying and celebrating up near the mountain in Moonlight Basin.

Question

Travel Dates / Key Dates

Answer

The Wedding Festivities will be taking place on Thursday, Friday & Saturday (8/7-8/9). Due to Big Sky being so remote, we have reserved a couple of large luxurious houses close together... what normal weddings might call "blocks of rooms". You will have a lodging available if you come Wed-Sun or if you come Thu-Mon. Once we get all of the RSVPs in we'll be in touch about pricing. Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park & Grand Teton National Park all within reach, we'd encourage you to take extra time off to travel the Mountain West!

Question

Weather & Altitude

Answer

Late Summer in Big Sky is generally sunny and clear with low humidity. Daytime temperatures from 60–80° F, overnight it gets down to around 40°F. Bozeman airport is at 4,500' elevation, and we'll be spending most of our time around 7,500' elevation.

Question

Lodging: Big Mountain Houses

Answer

The area is remote, so our best option is share travel and lodging. With the help of some friends, we have put down deposits on three big houses at Moonlight Basin so we can all be together. The houses are close together in an otherwise spread-out area. There is enough space for everyone! A few folks *may* be asked to share a room with a friend, only if it becomes necessary. We'll be in touch separately with housing costs once we get a feel for your travel plans. • The houses are reserved from Wed-Sun (8/6-8/10) and Thurs-Mon (8/7-8/11). We'll be in touch with arrangements once we get RSVPs in. • The Wedding Events will be at "our house", called The View. Wedding Day Dinner, Wedding Reception, Wedding Late-Night and next-day Brunch We are looking forward to having you, our nearest and dearest, get closer and create some lasting memories!

Question

Transportation

Answer

If you're up for sharing the ride/sharing the cost of a rental car from BZN Airport, we can help connect travelers on similar timetables. Things to know: • Once you're in Moonlight Basin, the houses are close together. Walking between houses or sharing rides to town events will be key. • Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are not available in Big Sky (another reason that we're all staying together).
