Travel

We understand that travelling is expensive, and we do not expect everybody to be able to make our wedding. Here are some options for traveling and accommodations! We have also been hearing about many planned trips to Halifax, so we've included some of our thoughts on things to do!

Hotel

Old Orchard Inn

This is our wedding location, the hotel has put aside rooms as a block for a discounted rate of $219.00 - $239.00 +HST for Friday and Saturday nights. To book, you can either use the code below online or call stating you are with the Macdonald/Haddad wedding. This block is available until March 23, 2026. They offer rooms and cottages but cottages are weather dependent. If you cannot make the wedding or find different accommodations, the hotel needs 48 hours of notice for cancellations. Check-in time is 3pm, and Check-Out time is 11am.

Phone Number: (902)-414-5556, Prebooked trips have a $5.00 Discount. Estimated Costs to the Old Orchard Inn: 3 people - $205.00 6 people - $245.00 Time: About 1.5 Hours

Travel Note

Maritime Bus

There are also many places to stay and things to see in Wolfville if you choose to stay there. You can get to Wolfville from Halifax by taking the Maritime Bus. This would be cheaper but take a lot more time, tickets for the Maritime Bus from the airport to Wolfville would cost about $29.50 and take anywhere from 3-5 hours.

Travel Note

Halifax

We are so glad that so many people want to come to the city! Here are a few things I will note: Staying in Halifax: -By far, the busiest street in Halifax is Barrington Street. Hotels like the Halifax Hotel and the Barrington Hotel are hard to get out of sometimes and aren't in the best area (By the bus terminal and Scotia Square). There is a lot of construction in the downtown area so we would recommend staying closer to the water (which may be more expensive) or out of the downtown area. -For downtown hotels, avoid Barrington Street, Gottegen Street (towards the citadel), and Spring Garden Road. Downtown, not at the waterfront, Graffton Street, Brunswick Street, and Market Street are good options! -Around this time, if you are looking for single accommodations, the universities rent out their dorms and student housing as airbnbs, which are small but quite affordable. -Airbnbs are very common, and we have heard good things about many of them. -The building we live in (The Vuse 5633 Fenwick Street) also rents out apartments for a short time and I'm sure many of the surrounding buildings do as well. -Inn's are very common here, they are affordable and homey. What to check out in Halifax: -Grafton Street is the bar area of Halifax, you can also check bars on the waterfront and boardwalk. ($$) -Portland Street is a great place to try different foods, it is also another going out area. -Waterfront Activities include the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic ($), the Halifax Art Gallery ($), Harbour Tours including the Harbour Hopper ($$), The HMCS Sackville ($), The Discovery Centre ($-$$), and of course the many shops. All of these are also family appropriate. Halifax is very historical so many of the attractions revolve around the history.
