*Emily* We met in August of 2019, at a CF movie night. We were in the same Bible study that semester, and ended up hanging out at several different events over the course of the next few months. Once covid hit however, Danny was sent home to North Carolina and I stayed in Ames. We kept in touch over the next few months, talking about the things that were going on in our lives (it was covid times so somehow both nothing and so much was happening at once) and just being friends.

*Emily* After being friends for a year and a half, we finally couldn't ignore the fact that there might be something more than friendship between us. We decided to start dating on March 5th, 2021, the day after Danny turned 20. We weren't able to actually go out on a date until March 14th, when we went out for dinner and a movie. Since then we've been on too many dates to count, but that will always be one of my favorites.

*Danny* I had ordered the ring online and after a few delivery attempts, had to work from home for an afternoon in order for it to be delivered. We then flew to North Carolina to spend time with my family at Hilton Head beach in South Carolina. One night after dinner, Emily and I went down to the beach with chairs to sit and watch the sunset and wait for the stars to come out. I played some music, and we watched the people around us while we talked. While Emily was having fun watching the young family taking pictures in front of us, I was secretly hoping they would hurry up and leave so we could be alone. Finally the sun set, and the beach started to clear out. The song "Marry Me" by Train came on, so I asked Emily to dance. We danced for a while, then I dropped to one knee and asked her to marry me. She responded with an emphatic Yes!
