"Holy Dimples". The line that started it all. What Chase thought would be a pick up line turned out to be the first words he would say to his future wife. A rainy day in Nashville diverted everyone's plans - and as fate would have it they ended up right where they belonged. Emily and her sister Rebecca (Maid of Honor) walked into Honky Tonk Central to meet their friends to celebrate Emily's birthday. Chase and Chris (Co-Best Man) stopped by for a beer after watching a rugby game in nearby Printer's Alley to celebrate Chase's future move to Nashville. They all collided at the bar, holy dimples flew, and neither can really remember what was talked about. Numbers exchanged, each went on their separate ways, and that was that - a typical Saturday on Broadway. However later that evening a text came through to Emily. "How about brunch at Top Golf tomorrow?" She slept on that and the next morning she decided to take a chance. Golf swings turned into beers on Broadway, and "now I'm walking talking living proof, that every now and then one dance turns into two. And a kiss turns into rings turns into how'd we get this far? When I met my wife in a bar." Not too bad for an Illinois boy and a California girl.
Emily loves surprises, so it was Chase's goal to plan the surprise of a lifetime. As he puts it, this proposal was God given. Emily's closest friends, their precious children, and a beautiful background created a surprise engagement that was better than Chase could have ever expected. What Emily thought was a last minute addition to their friends' Fall Break Family Beach Trip, Chase saw as an opportunity to plan a dream proposal. Chase wanted to involve the people near and dear to Emily - especially her little besties. After weeks of secret group texting, what was an idea in Chase's head, became something he had never imagined. "Family pictures" were booked, coordinated outfits were planned, and the ring was picked up hours before leaving for the trip. It was an unforgettable weekend with sand castles, crab hunting and catch phrase (#breakfastdecisions). It was their last night at the beach and as the sun was setting family pictures were in full swing. Emily even thought the photographer may let them squeeze in for one! Then all of a sudden Chase pulled on her arm - in a way that only meant one thing. Emily stood there in disbelief and once again - neither can remember what was said (except "Your parents and your sister know!"). And then to top it all off Chase got on one knee, and with an I love you said "the kids and I have something to ask you..." He turned Emily around to show five of her little besties holding signs that read "Emily Will You Marry Chase?" Let's just say some tears flew, champagne flowed, and the rest of their lives began.
