A great place to look at neat stuff! Housed in the former Burlington Mill in Mooresville, be sure to grab a slice or a burger before-hand from the connected restaurants before you stroll through this GIANT antique mall!
This is where we got Engaged! We have hiked just about every trail in this beautiful park. If you have wanted a chance to hike through a rugged mountain landscape surrounded by trees and waterfalls, this is your chance! Just about an hour drive from Statesville.
A nice park for a stroll! Plenty of wide open space and a variety of fun trails, this was always a favorite of ours in our early days together when we spent time in Mooresville.
One of our favorite go-to spots to take the dogs for a good walk in the outdoors. This place has been one of Bryan's family's favorite spots to visit since they first moved to NC - and for good reason: It is a historic one-of-a-kind operational grist mill with a picturesque waterwheel, a general store, and plenty of tranquility that can only be found in the quiet countryside of North Carolina.
This is one of the best kept secrets in central North Carolina... Tucked just off of US 70 is a restored covered bridge from days gone by, just a few hundred steps from where you will park. Enjoy the sounds of the river as you feel the history in the wooden beams of the structure, and be sure to take a stroll on the easily missed trail that snakes along the river. Another one of our favorite local outdoor spots!

Learn about some of Statesville's rich history with a visit to Fort Dobbs!
Sue and Gibby's favorite trail. The trail runs alonside a creek where Bryan commonly finds quartz crystals!

Hard to beat the food at Twisted Oak - Our favorite is the Shrimp n Grits!
You WILL have leftovers.
