Brett and Emily met through the ski club (PIST) at the University of Pittsburgh. They first met briefly on a ski trip in Stowe, Vermont. However, it was not until the next year that they grew closer through chatting on long bus rides to and from ski trips, camping trips, exploring the city of Pittsburgh, Brett "helping Emily study," and maybe a few nights at the local college bar. Brett eventually asked Emily on a date, and their love continued to grow through weekend adventures, and spending time with friends. Brett and Emily dated for a year and a half before Emily moved to Denver for graduate school. They survived two years of long-distance dating. Brett then moved to Colorado, where they have been happily adventuring ever since!

Brett proposed to Emily on a backcountry hut trip while ski touring on Vail Pass. The moment was captured by the best man's photography skills and the weekend was spent in the hut celebrating with friends.
