Black Star Canyon Trailhead
The hike to the waterfall involves some rock climbing while the hike to Beek's Place is a long, steady incline. Both offer glorious views. Bonus points if you find one of Emily's favorite things: tall, "fluffy grass."
Niguel Botanical Preserve
A lovely place for a walk or a picnic.
Mile Square Regional Park
Small boat and bike rentals, picnic spots, an archery range, and more can be found here (upon paying a few bucks for parking).

Strongly recommended if you're interested in taking a day-trip to San Diego!

A hot spot in San Diego with something for everyone!

A peaceful spot with a busy shopping district and lots of places to picnic or relax and read a book. Cute dogs abound.
