Alex and Emily met how most modern couples do- with an app. The app is called Coffee Meets Bagel, which uses an algorithm based on your preferences. The app gives you a fun fact about the person to start a conversation. Based on this fun fact, the first thing Emily messaged to Alex was about fishing. And he was HOOKED!

The Barbees have a small island up in Canada, and the family had invited Emily along to stay for a week in their first year of dating. Alex taught Emily everything he knew about fishing- how to cast the line, how to bait the hook, even how to clean and scale a fish. She did it all, and loved it! She never thought she would, but she actually loved it! One early morning, in the family cabin, Alex was looking for Emily so they could take the Tin Can (the affectionately named boat) out fishing. But she wasn't anywhere in the cabin. He asked his parents if they had seen her, but neither of them had. In desperation, he looked out the window. And there she was, sitting on the dock, still in her PJs, fishing. That's when he thought, "I have to marry this girl." Now, Emily is always begging Alex to take her fishing!
