Travel

Here you will find notes on all things travel. We've included flight and train options going in and out of Spain. Please read our notes, as they will give you a better idea of timing, etc. We've also included recommend places to stay in and around his town in Sierro and a couple places in Granada (for those joining us there Monday-Tuesday). We will update what we know about any Covid restrictions or guidelines when we get closer to the date! **We do want to make sure that those flying into Barcelona are aware of the heightened crime -- we recommend keeping valuables (documents, cash) secured when moving around the city. This is not to keep you from visiting the beautiful city - just take extra care to watch your things. Chat with Alex if you have questions.** Temperatures in southern Spain (Almeria) during January average between 56-66F. Expect sunshine and some chilly weather (It should feel very nice for the Minnesotans escaping winter temps)!

Flight

Almeria Airport

Located about 1hr 20min from Sierro - this is the closest airport to Sierro. Granada is the close second at 1hr 45min. We recommend comparing prices between the two locations, as distance is not a big factor here.

Flight

Federico García Lorca Granada Airport (LRX) -- Granada

This airport is in Granada, located about 1hr 45min drive away from Sierro. This is a great option if you want to fly in with minimal transport time between the airport and Sierro. Rental cars are available. We can also arrange picking people up if you are not planning on renting a car.

Flight

Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD/LEMD)

Madrid is about 6 hours away from Sierro by car. This option would be ideal if you're wanting to spend some time road tripping through Spain (if that's the case, Alex has some great recommendations for places to stop along your way). You can also take a train from Madrid to Granada - from there a little over an hour to Sierro.

Flight

Barcelona Airport-El Prat (BCN)

Similar to flying into Madrid, this option would require renting a car and driving between 7-8hrs (with stunning coastline views of the Mediterranean) or taking a train to Almeria or Granada. Recommended if you're wanting to explore more of Spain on your way to and from your flight, keeping in mind that you'll want to set aside plenty of time to complete the roadtrip and get some rest (because - jet lag).

Train

Train Madrid to Granada (Omio)

The high-speed train from Madrid to Granada takes about 3.5 hours (if you're on the direct train). There are no stops along the way, but it's a lovely way to see the countryside through the window. It is a very fast train (185mph), so if it's your first time, enjoy! From Granada, it's about 1hr30min to Sierro.

Train

Rail Europe - Barcelona to Granada

This is a wonderful place located a short distance from Alex's town (where the ceremony and reception will take place). There are no hotels in his town, but you can find vacation rentals and hotels in neighboring towns -- many of which are only a short 15 minute drive! Feel free to reach out before booking if you are wanting to confirm locations and ease of travel! (You can text or call Emily: 612-991-6518 or email ness.emily@gmail.com)!
