Emily and Aaron met at Century Ballroom in Capitol Hill during the weekly Sunday night swing dance when Aaron approached Emily who was talking to their mutual friend. They danced together for the first time in 2017 without thinking much of it. Emily and Aaron both went their own ways, but saw each other weekly at Century, which planted the seeds of their friendship. After years of friendship, Emily and Aaron spent an afternoon at Golden Gardens park and realized that there was something special to their relationship. Aaron convinced Emily to go out for karaoke for a few weeks at the bar he worked at, took them to The Killers' concert in 2022, and the rest is history.

Aaron proposed to Emily for their birthday in 2023 in front of her entire family and the same mutual friend they met through. Aaron was not sure he was going to propose that day, but said he was convinced to when Emily's "sister" and her husband surprised them at the birthday party. Emily unwrapped her gift from Aaron and found a ring pop, which made them laugh before Aaron got down on one knee.

Aaron and Emily live together in Seattle with their two brain cell-less orange cats, Socks and Mittens. They love karaoke, brunch dates, Seattle adventures, spending time with their nieces and nephew, and playing Super Mario Kart while drinking hot chocolate. Aaron tolerates Emily's love of thrifting, and he teaches her how to snowboard.
