At just 30 minutes from the Buffalo Airport, Niagara Falls is a MUST see!!! On the American side, Niagara Falls is a state park offering views from the top of the falls. The deck of the Observation Tower allows you to get a great view of both the American and Canadian (Horseshoe) Falls at the same time. A visit to Goat Island will allow you to view the Canadian falls from Terrapin Point, or walk out to Luna Island and stand directly between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. Seeing waterfalls from the top is cool, but to really get up close and personal with this this natural wonder, you have two options on the American side. Lucky for you, both come with ponchos. The Maid of the Mist comes with a blue poncho and needs no further explanation. The other option (Emily's favorite) is the Cave of the Winds. You get a yellow poncho AND sandals to walk right beneath the falls. It's awesome. The Maid of the Mist is a classic, but Cave of the Winds is where it's at.
If you're visiting Niagara Falls, go to Canada, eh? It's an easy walk or drive across the border on the Rainbow Bridge, just don't forget your passport! The Canadian side offers views from "downstream" of the falls, meaning you get to see the whole thing. It's unbelievable, especially the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls. If you stay into the night, they light up the falls for a stunning view. To get closer, they operate the Maid of the Mist from the Canadian side as well, this time offering a red poncho to complete your collection. What else makes the Canadian side so wonderful? There are tons of restaurants, two great casinos, and more tourist activities than you can imagine. For the Floridians: think the good parts of 192 meets I-Drive, give it a breathtaking view, and you have Clifton Hill. Wandering around will always turn up something entertaining here - like the time Emily and her mom ended up finding an Elvis Impersonator Convention. Thank you, Thank you very much.
Located just off the road between Buffalo and Ellicottville, this short hike takes you to a really cool natural phenomenon. The trail can get a bit wet, and you might want to bring a lighter just in case the Eternal Flame isn't being quite so eternal.
