Our New Date!!

As you’ve noticed, we have changed our date to May 16, 2021. This allows us to be in a larger space at The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, the Beach House Ballroom. More space means more availability to partake in the best COVID precautions including, but not limited to, more opportunities for social distancing when necessary and multiple spaces and rooms throughout the Beach House for mingling, dancing, and dining! Your health and comfort level are very important to us and we hope you know that we’ve made both priorities in planning our big day! We know that not everyone will be able to attend due to the ongoing pandemic, but should you have any reservations or questions about the precautions that we or Chesapeake Bay Beach Club will be taking we ask that you reach out to us first before declining. Now… let’s get ready to party!!

How We Met

Emily and Glen think they met sometime in 2014. Sounds silly to say “think” but it’s true, they met through their old jobs; Emily was a hostess at a local restaurant (her second job) while dancing for Ballet Theatre of Maryland and Glen was a valet outside of the restaurant while commuting to college. They would occasionally exchange a few words in passing and Glen would consistently order a $6.31 kid’s cheese pizza for dinner while on shift. Emily remembers one of their first real conversations: it was a slow and rainy Monday evening when Glen came into the restaurant to use the restroom and get his usual pizza. Procrastinating to go back out into the cold winter night, he stood in the restaurant’s foyer while Emily stood behind her stand as they spoke briefly. Emily remembers thinking how sweet and tall he was, thinking of him frequently after that. Her best friend (and Matron of Honor), Lindsey, also worked at Brio and a fellow dancer, can attest that Emily used to always say how cute he was when he would walk past them at work. Fast forward to the fall of 2016: Emily had left her job at Brio and Glen had graduated and moved back home to the Annapolis area that spring. Both newly single, Glen reached out mentioning on how he hadn’t seen her at the restaurant in a while and after a few hours of talking back and forth he asked Emily out for drinks that week. Emily and Glen went on their first date at The Fox’s Den in Annapolis on October 28, 2016 and after their second date (October 30th) they spent every day together. They had always said that they’d hope to fall in love with a person that “comes out of nowhere”… its funny how the second one stops looking, they find exactly what they have been dreaming of and never knew they needed.

The Proposal

October 27, 2019

On a very cold and rainy morning much like the night that we had our first conversation, I, Glen, convinced Emily to go on what we now consider the greatest walk of our lives. I had decided this was “the day” about a month before it happened. I reached out to Michelle (Emily’s mother) and obviously my family to let everyone know of my plans. It seemed perfect: it was the day after a big performance for Emily and would top off the weekend very well. Now, all we needed was good weather because the plan was to walk our dog at our usual spot where Emily and I really started to bond. The issue: we didn’t have good weather. I had contacted all family and friends the week prior to make sure everyone was able to meet us after to celebrate and some came from far away, but it was pouring that morning and I was not exactly sure how to get her out of bed. She complains a lot so I knew it was not going to be easy. I eventually dragged her out of bed telling her the dog needed to get out of the house and convinced her it wouldn’t hurt us. We got down to our usual walking spot and it started to rain, HARD. But, that made the moment even better as she was standing by herself looking out toward the quiet water and I got down on my knee. She turned around and it was just like I imagined and the rain made it even better. She said yes and we took some quick photos in the pouring rain before we bolted home to celebrate. It went better than I had imagined and I am quite glad it did.
