Maid of Honor
Emily's older sister is Emily's built-in partner in crime, egging her on and supporting her in every endeavor since day one. Best known for her kindness, empathy, and belly laughs, Courtney lives in Savannah, Georgia and is thrilled that Emily moved back east. Courtney and Emily share a love for dogs, nature, and snacking on goldfish. During the reception you will most likely find Courtney laughing at Emily's flailing dance moves.
Bridesmaid
Celeste is Gordon’s sister, and Emily won the sister-in-law lottery with this one. Celeste is fun and witty, and keeps her whole family laughing, soon expanding her fan base to include the entire Hudson family. During the reception, you will most likely overhear she and Gordon trying to make each other laugh at the worst times. She's a great resource for embarrassing Gordon stories, ask away!
Bridesmaid
Bridget is the only person Emily will wake up at the crack of dawn to go on a run with (sorry Gordon ;) ). As Emily’s first roommate out of college, they were "two peas in a pod" during SF shenanigans in their early 20s, and they've only grown closer over the last 8 years. They discovered they are a perfect match for many reasons including Bridget eats the excess icing off the top of Emily's red velvet cupcakes. Emily is hoping to convince her and her husband Mark to move to NC - if you meet them at the wedding, drop a subtle line about how great NC is.
Bridesmaid
Francesca and Emily kicked off their lifelong friendship 8 years ago entertaining each other in the back of Zumba. As Emily’s covid roommate, no one has ever spent as much time trapped within 4 walls with Emily as Francesca. After 2 years of living together, they became proficient at finishing each other's sentences. Francesca has been onboarding Gordon to Emily’s quirks during his visits to SF. You can find Francesca on the reception dance floor doing choreographed moves with Emily (that they have performed on the dance floors around SF for years).
Bridesmaid
Emily first knew Mash was her soul sister when they realized no one else "dances like no one is watching" quite like they do. Mash and Emily have traveled the world together, have hiked massive mountains together, have been on romantic Hawaii vacations together, and have helped each other perfect the "dog voice". They first met when Mash, Meghan and Emily played volleyball together at W&L and were “the three best friends that ever played front row.” (ask them to sing the jingle.) Mash and Emily have mastered the coast to coast Facetimes. You will find Mash jumping up and down flailing on the reception dance floor with Emily.
Bridesmaid
Meghan and Emily were tied at the hip while they lived together (and did literally everything together) all four years at Washington and Lee, and they haven't let long distance get in their way. Since graduating, they've done countless trips all over the US and abroad. Meghan didn't know what to think of Emily at first, when Emily creepily added her on Facebook without ever meeting her :) but Meghan ended up being Emily's ying to her yang. Meghan's humor and Snapchat content keeps Emily and Mash dying laughing, and it helps that Meghan has tons of embarrassing “Emily in college” content - feel free to ask for stories if you meet her at the wedding.
Best Man
Max and Gordon became fast friends when they met about 30 years ago. Some of their early, really lifelong, hobbies have been mentoring and hazing their younger sister, Celeste. Nowadays, Max and Gordon rarely pass up the opportunity to get together and do their favorite activity: doing nothing on beach or the couch.
Groomsman
Cam and Gordon first met over whiskey drinks in Houston, Texas in the summer of 2018. Cam, a law-school classmate of Celeste's at the time, had mustered the courage to court Gordon's sister, Celeste. Gordon was the first Glober to meet Cam and decide if the Glober's would like him. Fortunately for all, Cam and Gordon (and later the Globers) got along perfectly, and now Cam is Gordon's brother-in-law.
Groomsman
Andrew and Gordon met while playing each other in the competitive Under-4 Jacksonville soccer league. While initially frenemies, their relationship grew into a lifelong friendship, often centered around soccer, including playing together in high school and against one another again as conference rivals in college. Although Andrew and Gordon have since retired from the game, their friendship persists.
Groomsman
Jack was one of Gordon's first friends at MIT. Jack was quiet and had a weird-looking, but honestly impressive mustache at the time. Gordon got to know Jack as they pledged the same fraternity and became great friends. Their commonalities include: extraordinary knowledge of movies and goofing around.
Groomsman
Keith was the first person Gordon met in middle school and immediately became great friends. The two were in virtually every class together from then on and into high school. Their shared interests include talking crap, math, winning, and sports.
Groomsman
Zack, sometimes referred to as Keith's cooler twin, was an early friend of Gordon's since middle school. However unfortunately, the two grew apart during college. Yet, they were reunited when Zack moved to Boston for law school and the two became roommates, literally sharing a room, for two years. This reignited their lifelong friendship and firmly sealed Zack's title as coolest twin.
Mother of the Bride
Barbara, Emily's mom, is who Emily wants to grow up to be like one day. :) Barbara is thrilled that Emily is living back in NC, "finally". Barbara has never met a stranger, and is "Mama Huds, the hype queen" to all Emily's friends. You will most likely find her on the reception dance floor being twirled around (and around and around) by her closest friends known as "Hickory magic".
Father of the Bride
Through all the Hudson family moves, from Hickory to Boulder to Plano to Charlotte to Jupiter, Todd has been the family's rock. Emily’s dad is where she gets her love of concerts, music festivals, and sports. Todd loves a good beer, golf, and laughing with (read: at) the hilarious "Hickory Magic". You may find Todd on the golf course the day of the wedding. He has asked for weekend distractions to minimize his happy tears.
Father of the Groom
Gordon and James met 30 years ago and have been close friends since. As their early-November birthdays are only one day apart, they are thought to typify the ultimate Scorpio -- strong, independent, and a sucker for white wine on week nights. All of that is false; however, they do have a deep friendship built on soccer and immature humor.
Mother of the Groom
Gordon and Bonnie are also born one day apart and share the Scorpio title, without the penchant for sass. They have been close friends since the beginning, and their shared interests include coffee, doing nothing, and movies.
Emily's Grandmother
Penne's genes are where Emily gets her spunk! Barbara's mom, Penne, has an invincible spirit of positivity and optimism that she shares with every person who crosses her path. She is the originator of the phrase “kitchens are for dancing”, has never met a stranger, and has a smile that could light up a room. If you're lucky, you may be able to overhear her iconic Irish accent impression when she meets the irish wedding guests. You can find her grooving and boogie-ing in her seat during dinner, and reminding you her best piece of life advice: "Laugh 18 times a day!" We lost Grandpa years ago, but we know he is smiling and enjoying this day from the best seat in the house.
Emily's Grandmother
"Mimi and Pop" are Todd's parents. Mimi is best known for making custom handmade American Girl Doll clothes for Courtney and Emily's dolls when they were kids, being an incredible cook (there is nothing better than her chicken n dumplins), and having an extreme green thumb, best seen through her incredible backyard gardens. Emily has vivid childhood memories of Pop breaking into song, (usually church hymns); his goofiness always set the mood, and when he made Mimi burst into giggles, there was nothing better. You will find Mimi admiring the flowers, jamming to the band, and talking with everyone. We lost Pop in July, but so happy he spent time with Gordon on Mimi's 80th birthday and last Thanksgiving. He is with us always.
Pastor
James has been Emily's beacon of faith since 2006 when her family joined Myers Park United Methodist Church. James is the senior pastor there and has been intertwined in Emily's faith journey for years- he and his wife Lisa have been in bible study with Emily's parents, he has traveled the world on missions trips with Courtney, Emily's sister, and he constantly inspires Emily with his sermons focusing on the simple fact that "God is good. All the time."
