Staying on Island

While we won't have any hotel blocks, there are a number of lovely boutique hotels on-island. There are also some rental homes on AirBnB and VRBO but they will book up fast! These are the towns we'd recommend staying in (in this order): - Edgartown (Including Katama) - West Tisbury - Vineyard Haven - Oak Bluffs *Chilmark and Aquinnah are also lovely but just a little further from the festivities! **Chappaquiddick is a separate island from Martha's Vineyard and is only accessible by a small car ferry. Again, lovely to check out while you're in town! Just makes logistics a touch harder. We'd highly recommend staying on the island for logistics' sake - last ferry off island leaves each evening at 9:30pm... would cut significantly into dancing time. Complimentary transportation will be provided to and from the wedding on Saturday.

Feel Merry on the Ferry!

The main ferry to Martha's Vineyard leaves from Woods Hole, MA and is 45 minutes end to end, landing in either Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs on MV. It is run by Steamship Authority and schedules can be found on their website. Ferries run approximately once an hour and stop running at ~9:45pm. If you want to bring a car on island, would recommend booking your car slot via the website well in advance and planning to arrive ~30 minutes prior to departure. Passenger tickets for this ferry do not need to be booked in advance and can be bought in-person in the ticket office at the ferry dock. Tickets are $8.50 each way and aren't specific to direction or destination, so would go ahead and buy round trip. Parking is available at the Palmer Avenue Lot (286 Palmer Avenue, Falmouth, MA) for $15/day and shuttles are provided between the lots and the ferry. Leave a reasonable amount of time to navigate these logistics. There are a few other longer ferries that depart from NYC, RI and MA.

Delight in Flight!

Martha's Vineyard has one very small airport. Flying directly to the island is the most convenient way to arrive, by a long shot! If you're not quite so lucky and have to land at Logan Airport in Boston, Peter Pan offers rides for ~$30/person from the terminal to the Woods Hole ferry dock. The ride is approximately 2 hours, pending traffic. You can also rent cars from Logan through major car rental outlets or Turo and drive the 1.5-2 hours to the ferry.

Getting Around On-Island

Martha's Vineyard is a big island (~96 square miles)! If you're looking to check the whole thing out, car is really the only way to get around. If you're not bringing a car over on the ferry, we'd suggest checking out Turo (https://turo.com/) or renting through the MV Airport. Uber's/Lyft's on-island are few and far between, but there are a few cab services you can book ahead of time by phone (Cottage City Cab Company, Lighthouse Taxi, Able Taxi, etc.). While there are typically cabs available at the ferry landings on island, would recommend arranging for a cab to pick you up from the ferry for when you arrive in MV. Bikes can be rented on-island, there are lots of trails and sidewalks to take advantage of! Transportation (pick up and drop off) will be provided for the wedding on Saturday.
