We're Getting Married

San Francisco: The city they met in and a very close place to their hearts. Brian and Emilia met through mutual friends – Brian was living with Emilia’s freshman year roommate Audrey. For game 3 of the NBA finals between the Cavaliers and the Warriors, Emilia was going to the standard deviant brewery with some friends. On her way over to watch the game with her and Brian’s mutual friend Marie, they stopped at Brian and Audrey’s apartment to pick up some things. At the same time Brian and one of his good high school friends, Rees, were about to head out to a night on the town when Marie invited them to come along. Seeing Emilia, and confirming with Marie that Emilia was single, Brian was convinced and went onto root for the Cavaliers just to get Emilia’s attention. A fun night was had by all and that’s when the sparks began to fly.

Colorado: A couple of months into Brian and Emilia dating, Cal and Colorado were playing at CU in Boulder. Emilia had originally been planning on attending the game with her friends but decided to go with Brian. She got to meet Brian’s family, friends and even experience the famous CU tailgate traditions (some the hard way  ) Since then, they’ve taken countless trips back to see Brian's family and friends. From the annual 4th of July party to lots of trips for weddings, it's one of their favorite places and they feel so lucky to have such amazing people there. In June of 2021, they bought a house in Denver that they’ll eventually move to! Lake Tahoe: Just a few months into their relationship, Emilia and Brian decided to rent a place with a bunch of friends in Tahoe (hoping it would all work out) and since have spent most weekends of the last four winters skiing there. While Brian always can get down harder stuff than Emilia, she'll blow past him on the groomers. Minnesota: Emilia's home base where she's forced Brian to go to the Great Minnesota Get Together (aka State Fair for the non-Minnesotans) multiple times. From lake days to annual Thanksgivings, it holds a special place in their hearts due to the wonderful family and friends they get to spend time with (not to mention watching the Vikings beat the Broncos).

Sevilla: After 4 years together, Emilia and Brian travelled to Spain. Emilia had a feeling the proposal might happen, but she wasn't sure where or when. They started in Madrid on New Years Day then made their way to Granada. There they climbed up the streets through the famous neighborhood Albacin to a great view. The whole time Brian was wishing he'd brought the ring as the climbing signified their relationship, but when they were among 200 people watching the sunset over the Alhambra he knew he was right in sticking to his original plan. They made their way to Sevilla, the city where Emilia studied abroad back in 2013. They had some excellent times exploring the city and seeing Emilia's host family. Then they planned to go tour the Alcazar but had to wait until later in the day due to reservations. They walked to the Torre de Oro, along the river, then did a photoshoot in Parque Maria Luisa. Upon arriving to Plaza de Espana, Brian asked where the best lighting was, and Emilia didn't think anything of it because they'd just been taking so many pictures. They walked through the plaza and when almost arriving to the end Emilia started thinking she was crazy and maybe the proposal wouldn't happen this trip. Brian asked Emilia to get someone to take a picture. Luckily for him, the first person she asked who was an older gentleman that probably wouldn't have gotten all the angles Brian wanted, completely ignored her. Meanwhile Brian had meant the guy that was taking all sorts of pictures of his girlfriend at different angles that she then proceeded to ask. He took some photos and when Emilia went back to grab her phone, Brian said "Wait, mind taking one more?" then Emilia realized what was happening as Brian got down on one knee. He said some very nice things and she said yes! They went to a restaurant to get some manzanilla and paella to celebrate then went to the Alcazar for the tour. After that, throughout the day they spoke with family and friends, saw Emilia's host family, then had a wonderful dinner. The rest of the trip they spent celebrating with lots of wine and great food.
