After originally meeting while dropping off different patients at Hurley Medical Center years earlier, Kevin and I reconnected and began talking in the summer of 2018. After I returned from vacation a week later, and having been texting the entire time, we were both equally excited for our first date night. At the time I had volunteered to house and dog sitting for a friend of mine. So following an amazing Italian dinner Kevin agreed to accompany me to feed the dog and take him for a walk. Walking into my friends house nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first, until you got the the top of the stairs that is. Suddenly we were both simultaneously gut punched by a rancid smell coming from the dog cage. What was only shadows in the darkness was soon revealed to be copious amounts of doggie diarrhea covering the cage, the walls, and the surrounding carpet (magically the dog stayed clean. This wasn't a small dog either. This was the contents of a full grown yellow lab). To say I was mortified would be an understatement to say the least. I thought for sure what had started out as an amazing date was now definitely over and definitely not going to happen again. Much to my surprise, however, Kevin took the whole thing in stride. He voluntarily took the dog for a walk while I began the daunting clean up. Once Kevin was back inside he jumped right in to helping me clean up the rest of the mess. I texted my friend that night telling her what had happened and how I was going to marry this guy considering how absolutely amazing he was. Three years later we're finally making that a reality!
