DANIEL ODUBER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT / LIBERIA AIRPORT (LIR)

This is the closest airport to Tamarindo (1 hr drive/shuttle). Direct flights are available from MSP through Delta and Sun Country typically $300-$600 (We've never paid more than $450 for a direct flight to Liberia). If the price is on the high-end, it's best to wait to book airfare and set a travel alert. We'll be checking as we get around 6 months out and will plan to alert the group as we see good deals. Note that you can fly into the San Jose airport, but know that it is 4 hours from our wedding venue.

Transportation

Shuttles / Cab services: Two reputable shuttle services to get you to and from the airport - about $60 one-way for 2-4 people, however rates may vary for 2023 and depending on number of people. LIR Shuttles https://www.lirshuttle.com/ Tamarindo Shuttle https://tamarindoshuttle.com Rental Cars: There are a bunch of rental car options at the Liberia airport. We've had good experiences most recently with Alamo. Driving in Costa Rica is fairly easy and would recommend reserving in advance if you are planning to explore the country beyond Tamarindo.

Travel Note

Passports

Passports are required to travel to Costa Rica. If you do not have a passport or it’s expired, it’s time to start your passport application/renewal! Current department of state passport processing is estimated to be up to 18 weeks. Your passport must not expire within 6 months of your departure date. No additional travel visas are required.

Rental Car

Golf Cart Rental

Depending on where you choose to stay in either Tamarindo or the Playa Langosta area, it may be convenient (or just fun) to rent a golf cart or ATV to get around the city. There are a handful of rental companies, but have heard good things about Paradise Cart Rentals. Carts usually rent up really fast so if you want to do this we recommend booking early. Around $55 / day.

AirBnB or VRBO

There are also many options for all budgets and group sizes on AirBnB and VRBO that are within walking distance of everything, including the wedding venue. Feel free to reach out if you want our recommendation on location or help picking a spot! If you have a group of people, we'd highly suggest looking into this option sooner than later.
