You may be asking 'why did you guys choose Holland?'. Well, there are a number of reasons why we chose this special place. First and foremost, Holland, MI is just an awesome town. From the great bars and restaurants, to the beautiful scenery of the local parks and shoreline of Lake Michigan, we love everything about Holland and we think you will too. But secondly, and more importantly, Holland holds a special place in our hearts. Before his passing in 2019, Papa Al Norgal told Jared about the not-so-hidden gem that is Holland's Tulip Time Festival. This is an annual festival where the Dutch heritage of Holland shines through, and the entire town is flooded with thousands of tulips. Searching for a unique proposal location at the time, Jared saw this as a perfect opportunity. Despite the 2020 festival being cancelled due to COVID, Jared and Em still traveled to see the tulips, and Jared pulled the trigger on the shores of Lake Michigan (right next to the famous Big Red Lighthouse!).
In short, having you there for any duration is considered a blessing in our eyes. That said, we will reiterate that we love Holland, MI, and there are lots of things to do. If you have the means to arrive a day early or stay a day late, we suggest that you take that opportunity. Having a day or more to explore the area on your own is something that we would highly recommend. We could easily spend a week or more there without running out of fun things to do.
Holland is in the Eastern time zone. Make sure to take this into account when planning your trip! :)
