Christian and Elyse met on a dating app in the UK. Elyse noticed that one of Christian’s hobbies was bell ringing. Since she had done Salvation Army bell ringing with her students for several years, she reached out to ask what organization Christian rang for only to find out...that he doesn’t. He pulls on a rope and rings church bells, kind of like Quasimodo. But he didn’t hold it against Elyse and he met her anyway!

On December 20, 2020, Elyse was visiting Christian in England for Christmas. They went on a walk in the nature reserve not far from Christian’s home. It was really cold, so on the walk, Christian used a camp cooker to make hot chocolate- complete with whipped cream and marshmallows! But Elyse’s mug had Morse Code on it. She asked, “what does it say?” And Christian said, “you can’t read Morse Code?” handing her a decoding card. Long story short, it read “Will you Marry me?” and she said yes!!!
