Nick and I have a very basic love story. We became best friends in 5th grade, where I sat between him and Joey in band class. Nick often jokes that Joey knew that Nick loved me before he did. It wasn't until sophomore year of high school that Nick and I decided we would like to begin dating. We made each other endlessly laugh. We provided the support the other needed and our immature childish relationship blossomed into a strong and beautiful love. We compliment each other well and are so appreciative that we have been able to grow together throughout the years.

I made it nearly impossible for Nick to surprise me with a proposal, but he still managed to. Every weekend, holiday, special occasion... basically any time I wasn't wearing sweatpants... I was prepared for Nick to ask me to marry him. So, he orchestrated a sneaky plan. On the Monday after 4th of July my friend, Megan, asked me if Nick and I wanted to go to dinner with her and Joey because she was in town and wanted to get together. I was immediately suspicious because she lives out of state, but also because she asked me to wear a dress with her. However, she had a good excuse for being home and does like to plan outfits with her friends, so I attributed it to being "a Megan thing." We had a lovely dinner and went to her childhood home. Nick proposed to me in my best friend's back yard while the sun was setting (my favorite time of day). The moment was intimate and surreal, with the beautiful backdrop of the sunset. Megan captured the special moment for us. We cried a bit and then called our family to share the big news.
